    10-HOUR SITE SAFETY TRAINING PROGRAM

    Course Description

      

    Under New York City Local Law 196 of 2017all construction workers must complete 10 hours of DOB-approved site safety training (SST). To obtain your SST40 card you need to have said training and additionally have the Valid OSHA 30 card issued within the last 5 years.


    The 10-hour course consists of:


    · 8-Hour Fall Prevention 

    · 2-Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness


    8-Hour Fall Prevention

    This course, approved by the Department of Buildings (DOB) of the city of New York has as its main objective it has to educate workers about the dangers of falls that they are exposed to in construction and about the importance of fall prevention and control techniques to avoid accidents at work. Training is referenced by local NYC laws and federal OSHA standards for fall prevention (29 CFR 1926 Subpart M). 


    Upon completion of this course, you will receive a 8-hour fall prevention certificate on your SST card, if you already have it.

    Learning Objectives

    Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared to:

    • Recognize and analyze the risks of falls.
    • Know the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers.
    • Explain the importance of fall prevention on construction sites.
    • Use fall hazard information to evaluate scenarios about working at elevated workplaces.

    2-Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness

    The 2-hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness Course is an essential topic of the New York City Department of Buildings approved curriculum for obtaining a Site Safety Training (SST) card. The 2-hour drug and alcohol awareness course are specifically designed to educate construction workers and supervisors about the risks associated with drug and alcohol use, as well as the responsibility of controlling use on construction sites.


    Upon completion of this course, you will receive a 2-hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness certificate on your SST card, if you already have it.

    Learning Objectives

     Upon completing the course, learners will be able to:

    • Describe the adverse effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace
    • Identify problems associated with substance abuse and addiction
    • Recognize, avoid and prevent adverse consequences of substance use and abuse
    • Explain how working under the influence of alcohol and illicit drugs can be avoided
    • Identify issues of chemical dependency that may negatively affect the lives of loved ones

    CEU Requirements

    1. 100% attendance on the course
    2. Completion of Continuing Education and Training Registration Form
    3. Active participation in all class exercises (determined by course instructor)
    4. Completion of required post-quiz assessment
    5. As applicable, achievement of minimum passing score on required end-of-course examination
    6. Participation and submittal of end-of-course evaluation form (must provide name on form to receive credit)
