8-HOUR FALL PREVENTION

This is a prescribed course approved by the New York City Department of Buildings that can help fulfill the requirement for an individual applying for a Site Safety Training (SST) card. This is awareness level training only and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.

This course has its main objective as it must educate workers about the dangers of falls that they are exposed to in construction and about the importance of fall prevention and control techniques to avoid accidents at work. Training is referenced by local NYC laws and federal OSHA standards for fall prevention (29 CFR 1926 Subpart M). 

By completing the 8 Hour Fall Prevention course, individuals contribute to their certification process for an SST Card, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and upholding industry standards. The 8 Hours Fall Prevention training ensures that personnel are well-prepared to mitigate risks associated with falls, thereby promoting overall safety and productivity on construction sites across New York City.

Upon completion of this course, you will receive an 8-hour fall prevention certificate on your SST card.

Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared to:

• Recognize and analyze the risks of falls.
• Know the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers.
• Explain the importance of fall prevention on construction sites.
• Use fall hazard information to evaluate scenarios about working at elevated workplaces.

1. 100% attendance on the course
2. Completion of Continuing Education and Training Registration Form
3. Active participation in all class exercises (determined by course instructor)
4. Completion of required post-quiz assessment
5. As applicable, achievement of minimum passing score on required end-of-course examination
6. Participation and submittal of end-of-course evaluation form (must provide name on form to receive credit)
