4-HOUR FALL PREVENTION

 This is a prescribed course approved by the New York City Department of Buildings that can help fulfill the requirement for an individual applying for a Site Safety Training (SST) card. This is awareness level training only and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.

Falls are the leading cause of injuries and deaths in the construction industry. Due to the prevalence of these accidents, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the New York City Department of Buildings (NYC DOB) publish safety standards to protect construction workers. This 4-hour Fall Prevention course provides a comprehensive overview of essential fall hazards on construction sites and the different options for preventing and controlling fall hazards, thereby complying with local and state safety regulations.

4-Hour Fall Prevention course prepares participants to recognize, avoid, and prevent fall hazards on construction job sites. Additionally, you will learn more about the safe use of essential equipment, personal protective equipment, and maintaining a strong safety culture that minimizes avoidable accidents.

SST cards will be issued once all required training has been completed.

Upon completion of this course, you will receive an 4-hour fall prevention certificate on your SST card.

Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared to:

• Recognize and analyze the risks of falls.
• Know the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers.
• Explain the importance of fall prevention on construction sites.
• Use fall hazard information to evaluate scenarios about working at elevated workplaces.

Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared to:

1. 100% attendance on the course
2. Completion of Continuing Education and Training Registration Form
3. Active participation in all class exercises (determined by course instructor)
4. Completion of required post-quiz assessment
5. As applicable, achievement of minimum passing score on required end-of-course examination
6. Participation and submittal of end-of-course evaluation form (must provide name on form to receive credit)
