This course is a specialized elective approved by the New York City Department of Buildings that can help fulfill the requirement for an individual applying for a Site Safety Training (SST) card. This is awareness level training only and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.

Excavation training is crucial for those involved in trench and excavation work, which is essential for developing our infrastructure and becomes vital during maintenance situations. This line of work can be dangerous if certain precautions are not taken. This training will review the difference between a trench and excavation, what is required to be a competent person, and the necessary safety precautions to take when completing the work (before and during). Additionally, this training covers the different types of soil classifications and the types of protective systems that can be used with each type of soil.

Upon completion of this course, you will receive a 1-hour Excavations certificate on your SST card.

Este curso es una asignatura optativa especializada, aprobada por el Departamento de Edificios de la Ciudad de Nueva York, que ayuda a cumplir los requisitos para obtener la tarjeta de Capacitación en Seguridad en la Obra (SST, por sus siglas en inglés). Se trata de una capacitación de nivel de concienciación únicamente y no otorga ninguna otra cualificación o autorización aparte de la tarjeta SST.

La capacitación en excavaciones es fundamental para quienes realizan trabajos en zanjas y excavaciones, actividades esenciales para el desarrollo de nuestra infraestructura y vitales durante las labores de mantenimiento. Este tipo de trabajo puede resultar peligroso si no se adoptan las precauciones adecuadas. El curso aborda la diferencia entre una zanja y una excavación, los requisitos para actuar como "persona competente" y las medidas de seguridad necesarias para llevar a cabo el trabajo (tanto antes como durante su ejecución). Asimismo, se tratan las distintas clasificaciones de suelos y los sistemas de protección aplicables a cada tipo de terreno.

Al finalizar este curso, obtendrá la certificación de 1 hora en excavaciones para su tarjeta SST.
