This course is a specialized elective approved by the New York City Department of Buildings that can help fulfill the requirement for an individual applying for a Site Safety Training (SST) card. This is awareness level training only and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.

Trench and excavation work is essential in developing our infrastructure and becomes vital when maintenance situations arise. This line of work can be dangerous if certain precautions are not taken. This training will review the difference between a trench and excavation, what is required to be a competent person, and safety precautions to take when completing the work (before and during). This training also covers the different types of soil classifications as well as the types of protective systems that can be used with each type of soil.

Upon completion of this course, you will receive a 1-hour Excavations certificate on your SST card.
